The most awesome designer consignment shop in Portland is having a sale this weekend! This is where I purchased my favorite handbags. :) Since I've found this little gem in town, I've recommended it to everyone I know that's into designer fashion and also into keeping their bank from calling. Their 10th anniversary sale is going to be a great opportunity to snag some of your favorite designer goods for a really AMAZING deal! We have a Swatch store in Downtown Portland and they have a zillion cool watches at pretty affordable prices. I just learned about CreArt for Swatch, an artist collaboration and challenge amongst four artists to design for 'the world's smallest canvas'. Below is Billy the Artist, a NYC-based "Urban Primitivist" painting the window of the Times Square Swatch store this past July.

If you normally don't wear your leggings without a tunic-like top over it, then don't wear your denim leggings without a tunic-like top over it (ref. photo above).

- Camel toes aka frontal wedgies (ref. photo above)
- Conspicuous panty lines
- Wearing shoes that are too chunky that make your ankles and feet unproportional
- Wearing a bad top w/your denim leggings

I never try to limit someone's style or taste, but I think those guidelines are pretty standard and should be given some consideration. There are quite a few things that can make this trend a hot mess, but with caution and class, it can look really sexy and flatter each and ever curve. I highly recommend dark washed styles with side zippers at the bottom so you have more room to put your feet through. Some styles have a "sheen" on them, unlike regular leggings and that will help set it apart from both leggings and jeans.

I'm enjoying what PrettyUglyOnline.com is doing with their blog, their photo logs, and of course their exclusive, limited time product launches. I get pretty excited when they start their countdown until the online store is open, and it never fails that they always sell out within a short amount of time. This time around they're offering these amazing graphic T's which I also talked about in a previous post. You can read on the blog about Elton's design process for EACH of the t-shirts.

I'd love to see them go far with all of their crazy, creative endeavors. Did I mention they're from Portland?

Love it when I get comments on my blog from ANONYMOUS users telling me I look like shit, or something along the lines of that. ha! Cowards.

I know everyone's got a right to their own opinion, but why not leave a name if they're so justified in their comment, right? They're the same folks who come back frequently and stare at your photos like creeps and try to find flaws or things to talk about. They read every detail so they can rationalize their smack talking is for a valid reason. It's creepy because they start to think they know you or have dealt with you on some level.

I know I'm not the only one dealing with haters. I commend bloggers for putting themselves out there, and for those who stand up for others when they see that someone's judging or saying something ignorant and hateful.

I want to address that hater comments are not tolerated here so don't waste my time and others' time. They're deleted, because no one wants dog shit on their property.

And for those who've been here since the beginning, thank you for your support! :)

I'm in LA for a few more days, but when I get back I'll share with you all a ton of great photos. Since I've been here, I've felt like it's been too hot to wear anything nice or to layer. I've just been in flowy dresses and sandals or flats during the day and if it's cool enough I'm in some jeans.

Am missing Portland but it's been a lot of fun here so far. Definitely still a lot to see and would love to come back ... I'm headed to the Echoplex later for some live music by Teleknesis, The Boat People, and One Trick Pony.

Designer Interview: Kevia Jeffrey-West

Recently I had the opportunity to interview an amazing jewelry designer from Portland named Kevia Jeffrey-West. She's gained much success in a short amount of time-- her jewelry can be found in over 500 stores and boutiques worldwide, and has been featured in some major fashion magazines. Now she's on here to share her story with Love, Portland readers and Portland locals ... who will be in for a treat!

I got to see some pieces from her various collections and learned more about her inspirations, her design process, and the sustainable methods of her company. Kevia is also launching an eCommerce site at the end of the month to give everyone a chance to view and purchase from a large selection of her work. At the beginning of July, Kevia is teaming up with another local artist for a SAMPLE SALE! More information at the end of the interview ...

Kevia, you're from Portland and have studied and designed all over the world. What from your travels has influenced your jewelry design?
When traveling or living abroad I visit museums, cathedrals, and learn about local jewelry techniques and aesthetic preferences. I am fascinated by Ancient Egyptian and Etruscan jewelry, you really get the sense that ancient gold jewelry was rare, precious, and revered. While I respect the advances we have made in modern jewelry fabrication, my preference is handmade work because it feels strongly tied to the earliest jewelry making techniques and because each piece is slightly different and thus one of a kind.

How has the West Coast/Pacific Northwest inspired your work?
My work is organic, I often draw inspiration from the natural world. My Pacifica collection centers around wood and textured metal. My annual trips to Neskowin inspired a collection which features cast sea shells set with delicate stones. Leaves, flowers, and the natural world are common themes for my work. Living in the Northwest is a great source of inspiration due to the combination of lush urban gardens and some of the world’s most bio-diverse outdoor spaces.

Please tell me how you go about your design process.
I develop about five theme based collections per year. They all start with an experience (e.g. harvesting honey on a friends farm), a trip (my favorite Etruscan museum in Tuscany), or my fascination with a newly found raw material. Once I have the core concept, I design rings, earring, bracelets, and necklaces around the theme. Each of the collections tell a story both in the text we write for each collection and in the way the items can be merchandised together. When I first started out I made metal or clay based models for each new style. I now do most design work digitally.

What pieces of yours would you recommend for someone like me who doesn't have a large jewelry collection and wants classic pieces to go with everything?
I have two aims when designing, I focus on items that are either knockout pieces for special occasions or signature pieces that can be worn daily. I want women to find a piece that they love to the point that it is a part of their daily look or it is something they put on that makes them feel excited and special. For knockout pieces cocktail rings are fantastic. For signature pieces my multi-color stacking rings, a simple earring, or a stack of bangles can be worn every day.

What are your favorite materials to work with?
In addition to custom work done in pure 18K gold, we make jewelry in three main metals: sterling silver, 18K gold vermeil, and 22K gold vermeil. My signature finish is the matte 22K gold vermeil which took me about a year to develop. My goal has always been to offer fine jewelry quality designs that are affordable, and I think the high karat finish makes the pieces feel more precious than traditional 14K gold. I am also fascinated by the stone manufacturing process, so we buy our stones in rough and have them cut to order either in house or with a specialized lapidary. My favorite cut is the rose cut, which was originally used for diamonds. The cut is brilliant, delicate, and transforms the rough stones into luminous gemstones.

Portland is big on eco-friendly. How does your jewelry line contribute to sustainable communities, earth and/or environment?
I worked in the environmental field for eight years before becoming a designer. Our Woodland collection features reclaimed ebony wood that we finish with lint seed oil. Our factories filter runoff water, recycle metal, and we have a streamlined packaging system that reduces shipping, storage, and labeling materials. On the administrative side of the business we incorporate sustainability principles in our use and purchase of packaging materials, office supplies, energy use. I moved most of my production to India about three years ago, primarily because I wanted to be able to design hand fabricated jewelry that was affordable. It was really important that my business dealings followed the principles of fair trade in the areas of pricing, worker conditions, and manufacturing practices. Each year I try to tackle a new way to green the business. This year I hope to set up a carbon off-set program to decrease the impact of our international and domestic shipping.

Your jewelry is available at hundreds of retailer locations. What type of customers do you want to reach out to with your new online store?
We often receive calls from people in small towns and from international locations who are looking for local stores or a larger selection of styles they may have seen online. Having our own online site allows us to reach people in small towns and more international locations. We are so excited to have the ability to directly offer our entire collection to such a broad market.

Pendleton x Opening Ceremony

Back in January I found out Pendleton Woolen Mills, the Oregon company known for their plaids and utilitarian clothing, are collaborating--for the first time ever throughout their 100 years of existence, with another company ... not just any company ... for a capsule collection of 20-something pieces.

Since the date of their arrival in stores worldwide is getting closer (August 2009), I thought I'd give you guys a heads up or a reminder if you already knew. It's really awesome that a company like Pendleton, from Oregon, is collaborating with a really rad store. My assumption is that they will only be carried at speciality boutiques.

I do hope I get to visit the Opening Ceremony store when I'm in LA next week. Yippeee!

This 5th annual event is organized by students in the Dept. of Design and Human Environment in the College of Health and Human Sciences. Students majoring in apparel design, interior design, housing studies and merchandising mgmt will showcase their work at the show tonight.

A celebration--The Portland Rose Festival VIP party at the Mariott Hotel in downtown Waterfront. A pretty pink party for people who're part of the Rose Festival this year (check out that alliteration!). I went with my dad, he's on a committee that's building one of the floats for the Rose Parade on June 6th.

Tonight I won another raffle drawing for a one-year membership to Bally's Total Fitness. I've been really lucky lately.

China Bound | Portland Fashion; photos

In a previous post I wrote about a press conference that was going to be held by a director/model/photographer trio who went to China and showcased Portland fashion. They returned this past month and let the Portland fashion community in on what new plans they have in store, such as an annual exchange of resources/knowledge, and a fashion showcase with China, collaboration with Portland Fashion Synergy a non-profit developed by local Portland designer May Tee, and plans to bring members of the Henan Fashion Association to our city in August for Portland's first international runway.

Attendees at last night's event included: CW, Portland Monthly, Mercury, Oregon Live, Portland Fashion Week, Semper Fashion, The Benson (GM Ron Gladney and his wife), Option Model Management, Art Institute, tons of local designers including: Bon'Lou, Revivall Clothing, Emilia Kaye, Christa Taylor, Billie Jo Retro, Lucia Apparel, Janeane Marie, Erhart, Rio Wrenn of RAW Lingerie, Clair Vintage, Lux Jewelry.

Last night's event was a big success, and although I couldn't get back on that side of town in time to attend, it seemed very insightful. Luckily Jillian Rabe, model and assistant director of China Bound filled me in on all the details covered that night. Last Thursday on Alberta

Found a couple of vendors at Last Thursday that were selling some funky accessories and jewelry. I'm starting to consider investing in several good pieces of jewelry that'll add uniqueness to my outfits, and I think I'm going to start with Saturday Market, festivals, fairs, etc. I took down contact info from several of the vendors last night, took some photos of the event, and will post those up soon! It was CRAZY madness last night, and I got there close to the end of the event. House parties, dancing on the streets, singing on the sidewalk, a musician with a cello (gypsycello.com) ...

Last Thursday events happen on the last Thursday (duh) of every month in specific areas of town. Where I was at last night, several blocks on NE Alberta street were blocked off for live music, fresh food, art, crafts, etc.

My new cell phone allows for video recording so I'm utilizing that for sure. Here's a look at what Last Thursday on Alberta is like on those warm summer nights in here Portland ...

Hello! It's been awhile since I've written a meaningful (or so I think) post. For the past few weeks, I've been coordinating a fashion show that finally showcased this Memorial weekend! Who would've thought little 'ol me could handle such a big task. It was my absolutely FIRST time at doing so, but man did I learn a whole lot from this one experience alone. I couldn't have done it without ALL the help and support from everyone who I've been working with for the past few weeks. I'm more than grateful to have been given the opportunity to work with such amazing boutiques in Portland, to showcase at a new and beautiful upscale venue, and to meet and collaborate with some very professional and fun individuals.

I know that fashion shows are a lot of work, but I hope that I made it smooth and easy for everyone who was involved. Here's a list of those who were part of the fashion show:

And of course, Agency Ultra Lounge for hosting the Debonair Hampton's white party, a fashion show & benefit for the Interstate Firehouse Cultural Center.

The theme of the fashion event was to showcase several progressive boutiques in the Portland metro area, using mainly MEN'S clothing. Our 6 models (4 male, 2 female) strutted big time, showcasing 24 looks total. Our models looked hot in men's clothing! Of course the female models were working the men's outfits in hot stiletto heels from Halo Shoes.

I am exhausted, but I am anxious for my next big project. I've got a lot to work on to make the next show better. Definitely something to look forward to.

No need to wear dad's or your boyfriend's oversized button-up, girlfriend there's one tailored for you! This shirt dress is sweet and sophisticated for spring. Right now in Portland the weather is warming up but when walking to and from class/work between city buildings, I'm in shade and it's breezy, sometimes even windy. This will keep me cool but covered up. The soft leather belt is included, even better! I would pair it with some ankle boots and my new Balenciaga bag. Yes ... I finally found a replacement for my City bag from last year! Can't wait to tell you the story on how I went about finding one.

I've been super busy.

Please don't ask what kind of trouble I've been getting myself into, you will find out soon enough ... some of them at least.

I know you're all very interested in my life (sarcastic).

I'm still enjoying every moment I have to myself and with my loved ones.

May is going to end with a BANG and June will just get better, esp. with the nice weather and classes letting out ... people will be doing more exciting and adventurous things. There will be must-go-to events every summer day, evening, and late night!

Info: Sunday May 24th, The Agency will be hosting a private benefit fashion show featuring 6 local boutiques. The event will be showcasing progressive men's fashion. We will be using both men and women for the runway to add a touch of surprise and originality.

Specs:
- We are looking for 4 male and 4 female models
- Female 5'7-5'11
- Male 5'10-6'2
- Ages 21-29
- Body Type - Slender/Slim/Fit
- Any race/ethnicity
- At least once a month commitment to model at each fashion event

This is currently a pro-bono project so models will not be paid but there will be food/drink accommodations. We are seeking a loose commitment from each model to be a party of EVERY fashion event we hold (generally once a month commitment in addition to rehearsals and fittings) because we will be building a brand and network around these events and wish to build the models that we work with along the way.

Hey all!

In the past few months I've been connecting with Juan Zavala, the creative director for a San Diego based apparel company called Metamorphosis. The company focuses their work on up-and-coming artists and designers by highlighting the artists' work on their clothing.

"Similar to the renaissance times, the artist will be offered a public forum for expression. These artists are extended the opportunity to express their vision and designs on a blank canvas." -Metamorphosis

There are a lot of t-shirt companies out there, but I feel what's special about Metamorphosis is that their designs have a unique freehand look and feel to it. When I told Juan that the t-shirts featured on the website were very organic and fresh, he told me that they're all work from real-life artists. Their original mediums may be oil, paint, pen, etc., so Juan then transfers their work onto high-quality t-shirts as a graphic.

While my artistic talent doesn't compare to the artists featured on Metamorphasis' clothing, a short interview/bio of me is featured under their "Trendsetter" forecasting blog. It was a pleasure to work with an individual that has an original vision for his company. Check out his website!

Thursday night was the Rachal Mara spring '09 fashion show at Moule, a gigantic emporium of designer clothing, accessories, books, toys, this and that ... ! The girls [and Augustine] who work at Moule Portland have some of the best, most contemporary personal styles I've witnessed in Portland. What stands out to me though is that they are also some of the most unpretentious people I've met--each personable and easy to talk to. I can't say "go to ___ when you shop at Moule," because they're all wickedly cool. Steelo + great attitude = SWAG.

The event itself began with refreshments and colorful snacks, then Annapurna swooning us with her vocals, then the pretty little fashion show. Rachel Mara's maxi dresses, silk skirts, and tailored pants, jackets, and jumpsuits were artful, organic, and fluid.

Then raffle drawings. Well, luck was on my side that night ... I went home with a $200 gift certificate to go towards some new Rachel Mara threads! I've not decided what to get, but think it might be one of her denim dresses or silk pants.

I feel that Portland really dresses up when there's "something" to dress up for, but other than that, people don't dress up just because. Knowing this, I came slightly under-dressed ... Alright, kidding! I just couldn't figure out what to wear. :) The guests looked great Thurs night. I'd love to see this side of Portland more often, although at the same time Portland losing its casual 'tude might feel sort of disorienting, don't you think?

We may not see it and it may not affect us directly, but childhood hunger will affect more than 12 million children nationwide by the end of the year. Hunger impairs the lives and the health of these children in long-term ways, physically and mentally. Taste of the Nation has raised more than $70 million since '88 to increase access to programs that provide children and their families with healthy food and knowledge to make the most out of limited resources.

100% of ticket sales and auction proceeds go to organizations that ensure no kid is left hungry in our community: Oregon Food Bank and St. Vincent de Paul Food Recovery Program are two of the four beneficiaries. In return, we get to taste the best food and beverages from around Oregon (or your city), auctions, raffles, and live music for the evening. More than 45 restaurants, 25 wineries, 4 breweries, and 4 "mixologists," joined together at the Luxe Autohaus last night for this event. Some of my favorite restaurants, and possibly yours, were participants: Andina, Fenouil, Davis Street Tavern, Nostrana, New Seasons market, Ristorante Fratelli, Ruth's Chris Steak House (MOST TENDER STEAK EVER), Saint Cupcakes, etc.

The event was fun, fast-pace, unpretentious, and 100% delightful. For those who went, I hope you were able to get through the heavy rain that hit around 6:30 PM and into sampling heaven! I'm sorry to say I was too busy sampling all the delicious food and drinks to dedicate myself to taking more photos. For more details from the Portland event, click here.

I went to the fifth annual Portland Mercury Fashion Show 'Forecast' tonight, actually left about an hour and a half ago! It was held at the Armory, a fun spot for the event. I really liked the high ceilings and purple lighting. The stairs made it tricky for the models to walk, but I was right at the bottom of the steps and got pretty good shots. DJ Beyonda was amazing, as always. Went with my friends Stephen and Sean, but saw quite a few familiar faces. Eh, Portland's so small you sort of run into the same people. Anyway, the fashion show highlighted "Portland style" and showcased spring collections of several independent designers and entrepreneurs. The works of Holly Stalder, Elizabeth Dye, Julia Barbee's Frocky Jack Morgan, and Gretchen Jone's Mothlove were part of the line-up amongst several others tonight.

Went to a spot called Rotture for the first time tonight and was greeted with something pretty spectacular and unique. Fresh beats for my listening/dancing pleasure, basically. The line-up for the night:

- The Sound of Kudoro: 'Buraka Som Sistema' a live set performance by a group from Portugal touring in North America. Go to their Myspace music page to listen to a few tracks. It was so much better live, as there were two drum sets, a DJ, 2 MC's and a dancer!

"The wild beats of Angolan Kuduro music has been big in Lisbon clubs since the late 90s and Buraka Som Sistema - AKA Lil' John, Riot and Conductor – have fused it with 21st century electronics to create a whole new sound. Now this electro ghettotech take on their favourite South West African music has is quickening and corrupting dancefloors all over the world on the basis of an EP with sounds not many have heard before."

Debating on whether it's appropriate or not to call my vanilla chai tea "delicious". I generally associate deliciousness with food and heavier drinks such as shakes, smoothies, etc. So that's that. haha

I don't have a camera on hand, but thought I'd still post a handful of fuzzy macbook photobooth shots of today's outfit at work. I also work at a phenomenal skin care studio in the Pearl. Everything from my cleanser, toner, moisturizer, mask, sunscreen, etc. is from a medical skincare line called Epionce. It's hands down the best skincare line I've used. I don't know where else in Portland it's sold, and it's generally exclusive to doctor's offices, so we're special.

First, life has been hectic. Yeah yeah, heard it before, but my head is a giant tsunami avalanche rain shower mud slide volcanic eruption of all things good and partial (not bad). I just hope my body and my health sustains, or else! Many new plans for the blog that will excite you to pieces. New developments for me as a student as well as a young professional are also in place. You will read, you will hear, and you will see.

Anyway, here's an update on a previous post I made for my friend's March for Babies sponsorship. Her original goal of $500 has been boosted to $1,200. She is already past the $900 mark. Last month's Massive event celebrated the official launch of Button mag, a magazine focused on music, fashion, and sex in PDX. I just took the chance to read the first issue, available online at www.buttonmag.com.

In the "Letter from the Editor (p.11)," Editor-in-Chief Brittany McGrath describes her fascination with her hometown of Portland, OR and the unique and progressive crowd of 20-30 somethings that need a magazine specific for their demographic. And she's right, Button caters to that crowd like no other Portland mag publication I've read thus far. I enjoyed the light reading, hearing the swishing sound of the digital pages turning, and the visuals were confident.

My favorite article from this issue was "Living in the Raw (p.51)," about one guy's attachment to his raw denim ... something I talk about CONSTANTLY on my blog here. I was really excited to see other Portlanders getting involved with the raw denim project, although I will never ever extend my no-washing time period to one year just for hygienic and professional purposes. Nonetheless, loved the article ... wish they would've mentioned other brands of raw denim, or provide contacts of various Portland retailers that carry stock, or possibly where one might find raw denim jeans for women. ha One thing that bugged me was that the article mentioned "summer" quite a few times, making the article sound dated and old. It's April, guys. We want what's current, fresh, at the moment ... at least don't let us know you wrote this last year.

"I do at 20 (p. 68)" looked into something I've always been curious about with marriage at a young age, but "Guys tell all: Sexy vs. Slutty (p.72)" was somewhat typical of something from a Seventeen magazine article sans cheesy pep talk. All in all, looking forward to the next issue. I'm happy Brittany achieved her dream. Would love to do something significant as this at 22.

Portland's been blessed with absolutely stunning weather these past few days. I was watching people out on the balconies of their NW condos enjoying the warm heat, people walking their dogs, shorts and shades on ... while I was stuck in class behind large panes of glass. I finally got some sun when I went out to a park to play some light volleyball.

Anyway, I've been contemplating my spring/summer wardrobe, and really want to find "the perfect white dress." Then again, what if my entire wardrobe this summer were to be all white? Instead of one white dress, what if I had 3 or 4 perfect white dresses? Of course I have white jeans, white shorts, and white blouses to fall back on too. Hey everyone!

A few of my friends are walking for the March of Dimes/March for babies on April 25th, and would like your help! They both have significant reasons for their support in this cause. Uyen is a nurse at Providence St. Vincent's Medical Center in NICU (neonatal intensive care), and Thao was born prematurely but is now a healthy adult!

I've visited Uyen at her work, and it is almost devastating to see the conditions some of these newborns are in, yet they are someone's bundle of joy and a miracle nonetheless. Most of us grow up to have normal lives, but some of these babies never will. Pros about my new bangs:

- It's edgy, fresh, and unique compared to past hairstyles I've had.

- Trims will be free courtesy of my sister-in-law ... love her! :)

- It frames my face nicely.

- It still looks good when I wear a hat or beanie.

- Allows me to play up my eyes more with shadows and liner.

- Makes me feel sharp!

- My hair has attitude!

Cons about my new bangs:

- Frequent maintenance trims

- I have to put a flat iron to my hair more frequently. :(

- It doesn't look "soft" anymore.

- Longer pieces of hair want to get mixed up w/my bangs and they're hard to tame.

- I wouldn't say it's the most photogenic hair cut on me. ha!

Overall, I like it and it definitely freshens up my look. What do you guys think? Back to side swept bangs or keep them blunt for awhile?

I usually know it when I see it.

I sort of scored this jacket for a really good deal. It's super fitted on and was definitely meant to be mine. I think the model in the picture above wearing it way too big. Mine is in a burgundy red. Pictures soon, yeah?

I'm starting to put this jacket to more use. I love the random metallic splatter paint all over it, and the distressing on the elbows. It has a funny texture though. It'll be fun to wear in the summer w/dresses.

Watch a video of the final battle on The Happening. The entire time there I was wondering how some of those guys were able to dance in skinny jeans. Sometimes I have to really be in a good state of mind to wear some of my skinny jeans, let alone dance, sweat, and roll on the ground.

Check out these bags I absolutely adore. Double lined in Italian leather, rolled handles, tons of pockets and compartments ... It's the ultimate carry-all bag for school, work, and overnight trips. Superior hand craftsmanship, something I hardly see anymore. I've never been into big hobos or shapeless bags, so this is perfect for me.

Cork clutch w/gold metallic sparklies! Unique and totally affordable. Reason for the bag post is that we'll probably begin to put some of our handbags online at Halo and I wanted you guys to see what kind of goodies we carry at the shop.

It is inevitable in Portland weather to layer layer layer. It'll rain one minute, hail the next, and all the while be sunny. You just have to prepare for it all, especially in the spring. Today it was 58 degrees (warm, right?) so I decided to wear a dress and tall boots, G-Star jacket for insulation. I try to stay away from puffer jackets because for the most part they look athletic, but this one, which I purchased at Blake nearly 2 years ago has a great fitted shape to it. You can hardly tell in the photo, but just trust me.

I feel what sets me apart from many other fashion bloggers I've seen is that I pay a lot of attention to denim. Denim jeans especially are functional, durable, and just wayyy comfortable! I also have a lot of them.

In a previous post I briefly mentioned about a pair of jeans, about wanting to get them, but the sales woman was in my face about leaving (before the shop closed) so my friend and I left without buying anything at all from her. It really left a bad taste in my mouth but I came back only because I couldn't stop thinking about the jeans. This time a different sales woman was there, she wasn't in my face at all. As a matter of fact, she was chatting to two other people while ringing me up and barely acknowledged me. I don't know if these people understand common etiquette, but apparently they don't give a sh/t. ANYWAYYYYY. Enough with bad customer service experiences!

I got the jeans and they are awesome ... except I really have to work with (or hide) the back pocket because they sort of give me mom butt. There were also orange embroidered stars on the right back pocket, which I removed, but now there are dark star shaped marks there. Someone recommended patching that pocket with other material or denim.

I hardly consider these jeans outdated, and for $17 it beats any 60's/70's inspired wide legged or bell bottom jeans from current designer brands. They're the real deal, baby!

There's yellowish distressing on the thigh/knee area but you can barely tell in the photos. Here are more detailed shots though ...

The leg opening is a whopping 26 inches all around!

When it comes to jeans, I am very very very particular. Jeans have to pass the 360 degree fit test in addition to comfort, longevity, style, wash, brand, function, etc. before they can come home with me. It's a lengthy checklist! The right pair of jeans makes a big difference not only for your closet, but also for your image and body. I am naturally slender, but I also have natural curves that accompany most women. I always look for jeans that accentuate what I like about myself, and because I take good care of my body, I don't feel shy about it being seen. The jeans in the photos hit at my natural waist and fit soundly all the way down, like my second skin, due to the 3% elastane stretch (instead of the normal 2%). This is a quality item for me because it makes me feel good about myself! Another thing to keep in mind, mostly for women, is that they shouldn't have to worry about their 'number' in jeans. No matter what size you are, wear what makes you want to strut.

I've been following Nudie Jeans Co. for awhile now. It's been a couple of years since my first Nudie purchase. I believe I'm one of few women who were able to wear their jeans before some of their cuts became "unisex." Definitely prefer them over Denimbirds, their women's line that goes on super sale all the time. But I can say that I know Nudie's philosophy inside and out ... as a matter of fact, I even did a marketing audit on Nudie a few terms back in school. ha

Anyway, I was excited to see a Designer Q&A on Denimology for Nudie. Check it out! I was able to predict nearly every answer. I, myself could be a Nudie Preacher!

At work we took product shots for some of the clothes we're starting to carry. These t's are from Le Magnifique, based in LA, and they are sooo soft. The brighter colors aren't normally my style, but the hot pink one would look so cool with a high-waisted pair of jeans. (I found a great pair at House of Vintage tonight but the customer service lady there was so rude I left without buying. (She was so antsy to get us out the store even before it was closed, for no legitimate reason. Wish she would've just gotten out of my face so I could have just one minute to think about the purchase ...)

Anyway, the cool t's are sold at Halo Shoes and we'll probably have them available online shortly.

First and foremost I'd like to apologize for the inconsistency in the color of my photos. It's probably from moving the camera in between shots. I have no idea how to make them all adjust the same.

Often times when we go thrift shopping we find things that "could be" great and we buy it in hopes that it can be tweaked to perfection. I found a dolman sleeve sweater tunic by Kenneth Cole in a size XL at the Buffalo Exchange on Hawthorne, and it's one of those items with potential for greatness. I put it to the test and it was a success! I removed the waist tie, snipped the loops, and wore it as a dress. The sleeves are so huge that it drapes differently however you wear it. This single dress has so many forms, I can go from funky to fresh and back again in 2.5 seconds depending on how I drape or tie it. I love it and it's a great transitional piece for spring.
